Philadelphia Family Service Centers offer an extensive
family support services and enrichment
programs, covering
the entire life span.
Services Offered
Intake and Assessment Services
A professional
consultation designed to help individuals and families
determine an appropriate course of action toward problem
solving and/or personal enrichment and growth.
Community Based and In-Home Services
The
Philadelphia Family Service Centers cover a large geographic
region.
In an effort to be more accessible to those families
that live a greater distance, social work staff do provide
in-home assessments, and on going services in the clients
home.
Counseling and Mental Health Services
The
Northeast Family Service Center is a state licensed outpatient
mental health center, and a contracted provider for Community
Behavioral Health Care (CBH). Our clinical staff
consists of licensed clinical social workers, a clinical
supervisor,
and a board certified psychiatrist.
Pregnancy and Parenting
For pregnant women and
their families who may feel the need for extra support
and assistance, Family Service Centers offers practical
solutions. Committed to enhancing parenting skills with
children of all ages, local Family Service Centers provide
classes, support groups, lectures, and activities through
parent educators and social workers.

Programs for School Age Children
Catholic Social
Services through its family service center operates nine
(9) parish based afterschool programs. The Kids Stop
program serves school age children between the ages of
6 - 12 years. Hours of operation are 3:00 - 6:00 pm Monday
through Friday with extended hours on early dismissal,
teacher in-service days, and holidays. Kids Stop is a
comprehensive afterschool program which provides a nutritious
snack, help with homework and a vast array of recreational,
cultural, arts, prevention programming, and service learning
opportunities.
Group Programs
FLY Girls (Forming Leadership in Youth)
Is an abstinence
based program for girls in 5th through 8th grade
Positive Youth Development
High school students
attending Philadelphia public, Catholic, and private
schools are employed as youth leaders and work with our
children in our afterschool programs.
"Not Me ~ Not Now"
Is a two part teen
pregnancy prevention program. A presentation to parents
is designed to give them straight-forward, practical advice
on how to talk with their kids ages 9 - 14 about personal
issues, including sexuality.
Welfare to Work Programs
The
Northeast Family Service Center offers the “Building
Adult Independence” program
for low income adults transitioning from welfare to work,
or adults with little or no employment history. The program
trains and employs adults, age 18 and over, as Certified
Nursing Assistants.
Community Connections Initiative(CCI)
Is
a new initiative funded by the Department of Public Welfare
(DPW). The initiative provides services to clients that
receive TANF cash assistance, who currently have little
or no participation in employment, training or educational
activities, or access to those services.
GED Classes
Are provided in the Northeast
and Southwest Philadelphia through a partnership with
the
Center
For Literacy and Community College of Philadelphia.
